Türkiye's Foreign Ministry issued a formal condemnation on 5 October 2026 of what it characterised as Israeli attempts to undermine the 1974 Separation of Forces Agreement through resumed activities along what it referred to as the "Sufa 53 line" in Quneitra, as well as what it described as efforts to create new faits accomplis on Syrian territory.
In a statement designated Press Release No. 190, the ministry called on the international community to take "effective and decisive steps without delay" to halt what it described as Israel's expansionist policies, which Ankara said are escalating tensions in the region. Turkey also called for Israel's withdrawal from what it termed occupied Syrian territory.
The ministry stated that Türkiye would maintain firm support for Syria's sovereignty, political unity, and territorial integrity, and would continue to take steps toward that end in coordination with regional countries.
